Taking inspiration from the warmth and resilience of the people of L'Aquila, this work reimagines the open shutters and the narrow streets on a hot day. We are welcomed into the hearts of the people as they recreate their city.
This is one of a short series of unique, handwoven artworks exploring ideas of strength and fragility, light and shade. By means of unusual weave structures, each piece portrays the resilience within the beautiful yet damaged city of L’Aquila.
Adesso - Open Shutters is primarily woven in silk, cotton and wool. 20x15x2.75 cms. The frame is untreated wood.
