Taking inspiration from the resilience of the people of L'Aquila, this work reimagines the gentle movements of fine curtains in the hot summer breeze. In the the darkness of the shadows, it fleetingly acknowledges the scaffolding around the window, and the quiet beauty of this ancient city.
This is one of a short series of unique, handwoven artworks exploring ideas of strength and fragility, light and shade. By means of unusual weave structures, each piece portrays the resilience within the beautiful yet damaged city of L’Aquila.
Adesso - The Curtain is primarily woven in silk and wool. 15x20x2.5 cms. The frame is untreated wood.
