Taking inspiration from the ancient city of L'Aquila, this work reimagines the brightness of the light as it falls on a window. Inside, the curtain moves gently in the hot breeze. The room is darkness and shadow. All is quiet. Outside, the scaffold bears witness to the resilience of the people.
This is one of a short series of unique artworks exploring ideas of strength and fragility, light and shade. By means of unusual weave structures, we see the beauty and resilience within the beautiful yet damaged city of L’Aquila.
Adesso - The Window is primarily woven in silk, cashmere and wool. 23x32x3 cms. The frame is untreated wood.
