LEIGHTON HOUSE - RUMMEN WAVE - Silk Cushion
LEIGHTON HOUSE - RUMMEN WAVE - Silk Cushion
The patterning of this Liz Ramsay silk cushion is inspired by my research at Leighton House where the pomegranate, a fruit of Paradise, is repeatedly depicted. The design is hand-tessellated in the vivid blues of the Arab Hall, combined with deep navy. The silk is woven here in England.
The cushion is reversible to display more navy or more kingfisher, as shown in the images, and comes with a cushion pad, made to fit.
Entirely made in England.
This fabric is developed from my own artwork, in response to the architecture and ceramics of Leighton House, Holland Park, London. The intricate mosaics and Damascus tiles with their softly imperfect geometrics lend themselves to my hand-worked approach to design.
The luxurious silk yarn is selected, dyed and spun in Italy. The fabric is woven in Cheshire, England and then hand finished. The cushion and inner pad are both sewn here. It is made with care in order to give many years of comfort and pleasure.
Occasional dry cleaning is advised.
LEIGHTON HOUSE: Now an opulent museum, Leighton House houses some exquisite fine art, but it also features, at its centre, The Arab Hall, magnificently decorated with over a thousand Islamic tiles, mostly from Damascus, Syria. The luxurious interiors, bold colours, gold mosaics, marble columns and stunning dome is enhanced by the vivid blue walls of peacock blue tiles by the ceramic artist William De Morgan.
